The Hams Fork Fire is burning on the Kemmerer Ranger District on the Bridger-Teton National Forest approximately 25-miles northwest of Kemmerer, WY.
The fire is north of the Pole Creek prescribed fire that was ignited earlier this spring in the Hams Fork drainage.
The Hams Fork Fire is estimated at 80- acres in size and burning in lodge pole pine trees. The fire managers have ordered 8 Bozeman Smokejumpers which arrived on the Forest earlier this afternoon and immediately began suppressing the blaze.
Other resources to fight the fire have been ordered, including a Type II helicopter, and two 20-person hand crews. The fire danger rating on the Bridger-Teton National Forest is rated as 'High' which means fires can start easily and spread quickly.
Additionally, the smoke jumpers are reporting a possible smoke sighting northwest of the Hams Fork Fire. Fire managers are searching the area in case there is a second undiscovered fire in the vicinity.
