James Cash Penney is coming home to Kemmerer, where he started his iconic American retail business 119 years ago, in 1902.
The dedication ceremony will be at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28, celebrating the arrival of Mr. Penney’s statue in Kemmerer from Plano, Texas — a journey of 1,305 miles.
In addition to the special dedication program, the community is invited to participate in the inaugural J.C. Penney Golden Rule Days in Kemmerer with a historical downtown walking tour to see the original Golden Rule Store, the James Cash Penney Home and Museum, and the active J.C. Penney “Mother Store” as well as other downtown special events, activities and historical sites from 4-8:30 p.m.
