Fossilfest is back, and this year promises to be better than ever. The Fossilfest of Light begins on Friday, June 29.

A new addition to Fossilfest this year is the discounted fossil digs on Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. American Fossil and Warfield Fossil are offering discounts for those wanting to dig into Kemmerer’s ancient history.

At 1:00 p.m. on Friday, there is a swim party at the City Pool in Archie Neil Park. Vendor booths open in Triangle Park in Kemmerer at 2:00 p.m. that afternoon.

Family fun night kicks off at 6:00 p.m., with vendors, crafts and games. At 6:30 p.m., there is a dodgeball tournament. Jagertown Band will entertain on the Triangle stage from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. At 8:30 p.m. is another new event this year: the Floating Lantern Release to light up the Kemmerer night sky.

Families can earn a lantern by participating in Family Fun Night or registering for Saturday’s events.

Fossilfest keeps the fun going on Saturday, June 30, with the 5K fun run and basketball tournament both at 8:00 a.m.

At 10:00 a.m., locals will line Kemmerer’s Main Street to watch the Fossilfest parade. At 10:30 a.m., there will be a magician on the Triangle stage.

Adults can test their skills in the Cornhole tournament at 11:00 a.m. At 11:30 a.m., local dancers will show off what they’ve learned with the Fossilfest Dance Clinic performance. At noon is the Kemmerer’s Got Talent show.

At 12:45, hypnotist John Moyer will perform. At 2:00 p.m., Tumbling with Becky will put on a show on the Triangle stage. At 2:30 p.m., teams can compete in the water fight on Main Street. From 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., new local band Dempsey Road will perform. Sage Junction Band will close out the Fossilfest activities with a performance from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
