Due to recent snowfall, the Fossil Butte National Monument scenic drive is now closed for the season. It will re-open in Spring 2021 when the weather permits. The drive is gated at the Visitor Center parking lot, and at the two northern BLM entrances.
While the drive is closed to vehicle traffic, visitors are welcome and encouraged to walk, snowshoe, or cross-country ski the road or any other place in the monument. Snowmobiles, ATVs, and any other motorized vehicles are prohibited.
The Visitor Center is closed on Sundays and winter holidays, but otherwise open from 8 a.m. -4:30 p.m. The Historic Quarry Trail is open, but snow covered. All outside attractions are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
