KEMMERER— Lincoln County School district No.1 held its first meeting of the year on Jan. 14, discussing the approval of the ACT Intervention and Appeal policy on its third reading. The Policy will help the students who are having a hard time with the ACT. The school board recognized the students of the month of January; Sydney Neria, Audrey Cassidy, Zach Jackson, Collin Smith, Lilly Jamison and Riley Piippo. Football coach Bart Jernigan had the honor of recognizing Dawson Schramm and Colter Julian with Scholar Athlete Awards from the Wyoming chapter of the National Football Foundation.
Superintendent Teresa Chaulk told the school board the phone system at the Kemmerer Junior Senior High is out of date and they will be moving forward on getting a new phone system, which is in the budget.
The school board had a first reading for Policy GCPB-R which talks about the resignation of a staff member. “Staff members who give an advance notice to the district by resigning early will be eligible for incentive pay. Incentive pay will be $2,000 for resignation prior to Feb. 15. Incentive pay will decrease $100 each day beginning Feb. 15, till the total is zero for resignations received thereafter,” states the policy. The policy also has incentive pay if a teacher finds a replacement for their position. The policy was passed on first reading with slight changes to the language and wording.
The school board also heard about the development plan for the Canyon Elementary kitchen which will begin remodeling in May.
