Eva O. Hunzie, age 91, passed away at South Lincoln Medical Center in Kemmerer on Nov. 28, 2020. 

Eva was born on Aug. 29, 1929, in Kemmerer, the daughter of Orville and Eva (Shinskie) Moon.  She was raised in Sublet and Frontier, spending summers at the Shinskie Ranch. She graduated from Kemmerer High School in 1947.

Eva’s first job was at a local pharmacy, then as a telephone operator for Mountain Bell. She then went to work at the J.C. Penney Store and then back to Mountain Bell as a clerk. She retired in 1980.

On May 8, 1948, Eva married Chuck Hunzie in Frontier. They had two children, Mike (Susan) Hunzie, and Kay (Vern) Baggett.

Eva loved to spend time out in the country, whether it was hunting, fishing, camping, picking mushrooms, riding horses, or just tending the campfire.

She also liked to do crocheting and was very proud of her extensive collection of glass birds. 

Eva is survived by one brother, Ken Moon; her children; four granddaughters, Rhonda Crank, Terri Hunzie,Kami Baggett, and Shannon Whitmore; five great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and numeous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Pat and Bob Moon; and sisters Audrey Kosek and Betty Findlay.

Graveside services and interment will be conducted on Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 2 p.m. at the South Lincoln Cemetery for immediate family only.

The family asks that memorial donations be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the South Lincoln Nursing Center, or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Ball Family Chapel of Kemmerer.
