Posted

Cokeville wrestlers Devan Moody and Ammon Teichert were crowned champions at the Carbon County Invite last weekend.

The Cokeville Panther wrestling team traveled to Saratoga High School for the annual Carbon County Invite on Feb. 8 and 9. There were 17 teams from the surrounding areas that came to compete in the two-day tournament. This was Cokeville’s chance to see several teams in the 2A division from the eastern part of the state. The Panthers had 16 wrestlers competing, and 8 placed in the top six.

Garrett Reece (132) finished with a 6th place finish, and Ammon Halls (120) and Wes Teichert (152) both finished with 3rd place medals. The Panthers had all five seniors make it into the championship matches. Lochlyn Teichert (138) wrestled a tough match and finished as runner-up. Bentley Johnson (182) also wrestled tough but finished as runner-up. Ammon Teichert (152) was the first Panther to win his championship match against his Kemmmerer opponent. Devan Moody was the next Panther to win his championship match in an ultimate tie-breaker victory (7 rounds) against his Moorcroft opponent. The final Panther wrestler was Brayden Johnson (170) who also finished as champion, defeating his Burns/Pine Bluffs opponent. The Panthers finished fourth as a team.

This week they will prepare for the regional tournament on Saturday, February 16, at Kemmerer High School.

Weigh-ins start at 8:00 a.m., with wrestling beginning at 9:30 a.m.
