Cokeville’s Bentley Johnson (182) earned fourth place at the Rockwell Rumble in Utah last weekend.
The Panther wrestlers were busy last week as they traveled to Lyman on Wednesday, Jan. 16, hosted Rich County on Thursday, Jan. 17, and traveled to Heber and Orem, Utah, on Friday and Saturday.
The Panthers won both duals with Lyman and Rich County, which gave them some great momentum going into the tough weekend of competition in Utah to compete in the Rockwell Rumble.
The JV and varsity wrestlers worked hard and competed very well.
“The JV wrestlers did some good things and I saw several of them improve from match to match,” Coach Moody said.
There were six Panthers who competed in the varsity level of the tournament.
Lochlyn Teichert (138) won 4 matches and lost 2. Ammon Teichert (145) won 4 and lost 2. Wes Teichert (152) won 2 and lost 2. Devan Moody (160) won 2 and lost 2. Brayden Johnson (172) won 6 and lost 2 finishing in 5th place. Bentley Johnson (182) won 5 and lost 2 and finished in 4th place.
The tournament had 82 teams and the Panthers finished in 28th place.
“The young men wrestled very well and I was pleased with their performances. I can’t wait to see how the last five weeks finish up,” Coach Linford said.
The Panthers will host a dual with Mountain View on Tuesday night at 5:30 then they will travel to Riverton for the Ron Thon January 25 and 26.
Last week, the Cokeville Panthers recognized senior wrestlers with their families: Devan Moody, Ammon Teichert, Bentley Johnson, Brayden Johnson, Jaydon Nelson and Lochlyn Teichert.
