Cokeville volleyball ready for regionals

Cokeville volleyball players, students and fans wore ‘WAM Strong’ shirts at the Oct. 12 volleyball game to show support for CHS student Whytney Murdock, who is battling bone cancer. Cokeville is at the 1A west regional tournament this weekend in Lander.

The Cokeville Lady Panthers volleyball team hosted to the Lady Rattlers of Snake River on Friday, Oct. 12. It was also “white out” night as everyone wore their WAM Strong shirts to show their support for CHS student Whytney Murdock in her fight against bone cancer.

The Lady Panthers steam-rolled over the Lady Rattlers to take the win at home in three, 25–15, 25–7, 25–6. Cokeville seniors were also recognized that evening: Emma Tonga, daughter of Etu and Julie Tonga; Leona Teichert, daughter of Mark and Christine Teichert and Janae Teichert, daughter of Tim and Renae Teichert.

Cokeville hosted Saratoga and Encampment on Saturday, Oct. 13, for the Lady Panthers’ final home matches of the season. Cokeville swept both teams in three games.

The Lady Panthers traveled to Mountain View on Thursday, Oct. 18, to take on a very scrappy Lady Buff team. Cokeville put up a good fight but went down in three to the Lady Buffs, 25–20, 25–16, 25–21.

Cokeville had their final regular season volleyball match on the road as they traveled to Farson to face the Lady Pronghorns on Saturday, Oct. 20. The Lady Panthers had a strong finish of the regular season as they defeated the Lady Pronghorns in three games, 25–18, 25–11, 25–10.

The Cokeville Lady Panthers will compete in the 1A West regional tournament this weekend in Lander. Cokeville’s first game of the tournament is against St. Stephens at 2:30 p.m.
