The Fall River Propane Swift 98.7 Idol contest was held on Friday, August 10, at the Lincoln County Fair. The competition actually began prior to the fair when 50 people auditioned for a chance to compete. A panel of judges narrowed the field to eight.

These contestants performed live at the Lincoln County Fair Friday under the Big Top. Cokeville’s own EJ Pauni was among the eight finalists. The finalists performed one musical selection, and then the audience voted on who would advance to the final four. Anyone could vote and the competition was streamed live on SVI Media. The vote was all done through text messaging.

Following the first round of voting, EJ advanced to the Final Four. The final four contestants then presented a different musical selection and the voting opened again. The race was tight, with a field of great vocalists. EJ was the final performer and wowed the crowd with his vocal selection. This time when the votes were tallied, EJ was crowned the 2018 Swift Idol Champion with 8,427 votes. He received a check for $3,000 from Sterling Urgent Care.
