Wyoming photographer Kari Walker of Cokeville earned 3rd Place in Outback Roundup 2018, RANGE magazine’s annual photo contest. RANGE is a publication devoted to issues that affect America’s food producers.
Walker is a frequent contributor to RANGE, and her entry, “Trailing 1,000 Head,” was shot on a cold and blustery day in western Wyoming. The photo captured cowboss Levi Walker of Circle B Cattle Company taking point as the crew trails a herd of mother cows over the mountain from the summer pasture to headquarters. Walker received $125 in prize money.
The competition attracted entries from 17 states and close to 300 photos. Winners receive cash, recognition in RANGE magazine, on the website and social media. If their work is used for other projects, they are compensated, again.
