The Cokeville Panthers wrestling team earned 3rd place at the 2A West regional tournament.
The Cokeville wrestling team traveled to Kemmerer High School for the 2A West regional wrestling tournament on Saturday, Feb. 16. Teams competing included Big Piney, Cokeville, Dubois, Greybull-Riverside, Kemmerer, Lovell, Rocky Mountain, Shoshoni, Thermopolis, Wind River and Wyoming Indian. The top four wrestlers in each weight earned medals. Placing in the top four for the Panthers were: Dakota Nelson (106) 4th place; Ammon Halls (120) 3rd place; Wes Teichert (152) 3rd place.
The Panthers had five seniors advance to the finals. Devan Moody (160) lost a close match 2-0 to finish as runner-up. Lochlyn Teichert (138) finished as champion; Ammon Teichert (152) finished as champion; Brayden Johnson (170) finished as champion and Bentley Johnson (182) finished as champion. The team wrestled well and came away with a third-place finish as a team. The Panthers will prepare for the 2A state tournament in Casper on Friday, Feb. 22, and Saturday, Feb. 23.
