Janae Teichert passes the ball for the Cokeville Lady Panthers earlier this season. The Cokeville girls won the 1A West regional tournament, and will compete at the 1A state tournament in Casper this weekend.
The Cokeville Lady Panthers basketball team was crowned the 1A West regional champions Saturday, Feb. 23, in Lander.
The Lady Panthers began the tournament against the Longhorns of Meeteetsee on Thursday, Feb. 21, where Cokeville ran away with the win, 58–20. Kamille Nate had 16 points and 7 rebounds. Rylee Teichert and Kallianne Toomer each had 8 rebounds. Emma Teichert had 4 assists and 4 steals.
This win advanced the Lady Panthers to the semi-final game on Friday, Feb. 22, against the Lady Rattlers of Snake River. Cokeville was just too much for the Lady Rattlers as they took the big win, 65–28. Emmie Barnes had 16 points. Kylee Dayton had 11 points and 6 steals. Kamille Nate had 10 points and 5 rebounds. Emma Teichert had 6 assists.
The championship game pitted the Cokeville Lady Panthers against the Lady Eagles of St. Stephens.
The Lady Eagles are known for their physical play, but Cokeville was not intimidated and came away with the championship trophy, winning 61–45.
Kamille Nate had a double-double in the championship game with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Emmie Barnes had 9 rebounds. Emma Teichert had 5 assists, Rylee Teichert had 4 assists and Kylee Dayton had 6 steals.
