Cokeville Elementary presented a Veterans Day program on Thursday, Nov. 9, in the Cokeville High School auditorium.
The program began with the 5th grade boys presenting the colors and leading the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance. Principal Hatch welcomed attendees, and then the fifth graders performed “Fifty Nifty States.” The 4th grade class performed “Grand Old Flag.” The 3rd grade class performed “Yankee Doodle Boy,” and they were followed by the 2nd grade class, who performed “This Is My Country.”
Local veteran Norman Freeman spoke at the program and encouraged everyone to thank veterans and show gratitude for their sacrifice and service. The 1st grade class performed “I Pledge Allegiance” and then the kindergarten class sang “My Flag, My Flag.”
An Armed Forces medley was played as local veterans stood and were recognized for their service. This was followed by a photo slideshow featuring Cokeville's veterans. There was a moment of silence, followed by “Taps” performed by Michael Moyes.
The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 40 hosted a special luncheon after the program for veterans and their spouses.
