Cokeville football beats Lyman 14–6

The Cokeville Panther football team traveled to take on the Lyman Eagles on Friday, Sept. 14. The first half was a defensive battle, and neither team was able to get the ball in the end zone for a score. Cokeville had two touchdowns called back on penalties.

The Panthers regrouped in the second half, but it was Lyman who put points on the board early in the third quarter. The Eagles had a penalty after the score that pushed them back for the point after attempt. They were unsuccessful as Devan Moody got a huge block.

So it was the Panthers’ turn at the end zone. Cokeville put two touchdowns on the board in the second half and two PATs.

Devin Donahue had a great interception late in the game to seal the victory and bring the final score to 14–6.

The Panthers were five of eight in passing for 81 yards and had 123 yards rushing, for a total of 204 yards. The Panthers had 96 yards in punt returns.

The Panthers held the Eagles to 22 yards passing and 130 yards rushing for a total of 152 yards.

Cokeville is excited for the Homecoming game on Friday, Sept. 21, against the Shoshoni Wranglers at 1:00 p.m.

On Thursday, Sept. 20, there will be a Homecoming tailgate party in the Cokeville City Park at 6:30 p.m. At 7:00 p.m., other Homecoming festivities begin with a pep rally on Main Street, the Lighting of the “C,” a bonfire, and a pep rally at the high school.

Before the game on Friday, there is a homecoming program at the high school auditorium at 9:00 a.m. The Homecoming parade follows at 11:00 p.m. down Cokeville Main Street.

After the football game, the Lady Panthers volleyball team hosts Farson-Eden at 4:00 p.m. The homecoming dance follows at 8:30 p.m. at the high school.
