Cokeville Elementary students perform for Veterans Day

Posted

Cokeville Elementary presented its annual Veterans Day Program on Nov. 8 in the Cokeville High School suditorium. Principal Harold Hatch welcomed those attending.

The 5th grade boys presented the colors and the National Anthem was sung by those in attendance. The 6th grade band performed “My Country Tis of Thee” followed by the 5th grade band’s performance of “When the Saints Go Marching In.” Kindergarten presented “My Flag,” followed by guest speaker  Scott Cook.

The 1st grade followed with “I Love My Country.” The 2nd grade sang “There are Many Flags in Many Lands” and they were followed by the 3rd grade with “This is America.” The final group to perform was 4th grade with “America.” There was an Armed Forces medley played while veterans in attendance stood to be recognized.

Local veterans were also recognized in a slide show. There was a moment of silence followed by “Taps” to conclude the program.

Cokeville veterans were honored at a luncheon provided by the American Legion Auxiliary, LaVoy Thornock, Unit 40.

We honor our veterans and thank them for their sacrifice and service so that we can continue to enjoy the many freedoms we have in this wonderful country. We also honor their families and loved ones whom they left behind.
