Posted

Cokeville celebrated Memorial Day on Monday, May 29, with the annual Memorial Day program at the Cokeville Cemetery. The ceremony was presented by the American Legion Auxiliary, LaVoy Thornock, Unit 40. It was a beautiful day. President Gwen Petersen welcomed those in attendance. Carolyn Alder gave the invocation.

Boy Scout Troop 600 presented the colors and led the Pledge of Allegiance. The Star Spangled Banner was sung by a group composed of Alisen Petersen, Michea Petersen, Emily Sparks, Kendra Cook, Kayla Cook, Dallin Hatch, Dylan Moody, Derrick Moody and Devan Moody. Rose Harmon shared a reading on “The Poppy.” She was followed by a musical number by Carol Reed. Betty Hymas gave the Memorial Tribute followed by Sienna Weske placing the wreath.

A Moment of Silence was followed by a sing-a-long of “America the Beautiful.” Bishop John Sparks gave the benediction and then American Legion Post #40 provided the firing squad. Taps were played by John Jackman. Special thanks to everyone who participated in the program and for those who attended.
