City of Kemmerer passes budget for Fiscal Year 18–19

At the meeting on Monday, June 11, the Kemmerer City Council passed the city’s budget for the Fiscal Year 2018-2019, which begins July 1 of this year and ends on June 30, 2019.

The budget resolution that was passed is the result of several months of work sessions with the council members, city department heads and city office administrators.

The total budget is $4,657,488. According to the resolution, $460,618 of that budget is capital projects and $4,196,870 is the operating budget.

This year marks another tight budget for the City of Kemmerer as they attempt to provide the same services to residents with a smaller staff and limited resources.

The budget for Fiscal Year 2017–2018 was $5,507,992. The budget for Fiscal Year 2016–2017 was $8,230,688.

The biggest proposed expenditure in the 2018-2019 budget is the $733,857 for Police Administration, which is included in the General Fund. The next biggest expenditure is Airport fund of $683,263.

The council passed three budget resolutions at the Monday, June 25, meeting amending the recently passed budget figures.

The first budget resolution provided for the receipt and expenditure of prior fund reserves for the buyout of a $69,190 backhoe lease / purchase.

The second provided for the receipt and expenditure of $41,074 from the four-percent lodging taxes.

The third budget resolution provided for the receipt and expenditure of $46,527 of grant money for Airport Fund projects that crossed over fiscal years.

The next Kemmerer council meeting is on July 9 at 7:00 p.m.
