The Kemmerer Rangers are preparing to face off against 3A Mountain View on Friday, Feb. 1. The J.V. game will be at 4:00 p.m. and the varsity game tips off at 7:00 p.m. Mountain View is 8-6 on the season.
On Friday, Jan. 25, Kemmerer hosted a tough Wyoming Indian team and fell 86–54
On Saturday, Jan. 26, the Rangers hosted 1A rival Cokeville. The Rangers kept the game close but ultimately lost to the Panthers 68-59.
The weekend losses put the Rangers’ season record at 1-16, and their 2A Southwest conference record at 1–2.
The Kemmerer Rangers have improved on scoring and rebounding since the beginning of the season, even breaking into the conference rankings.
Kemmerer junior Colter Brunski is fourth in the 2A West conference for average scoring per game. Brunski is averaging 13.5 points a game and has a 74 percent free-throw percentage. He ranks 9th in overall 2A in scoring. Brunski is also fourth in rebounding, averaging 7 a game.
Junior Caden Bowen ranks No. 6 in rebounding in the 2A West onference. Bowen averages 6.6 rebounds a game.
Junior Derick Wilcox is 9th in rebounding in the 2A West conference. Wilcox is averaging 5.6 rebounds a game. Wilcox ranks No. 5 in blocked shots in the conference, and No. 10 in blocked shots in 2A overall.
After this weekend’s game against Mountain View, the Rangers will travel to Big Piney on Tuesday, Feb. 5, to play the Punchers.
